Major indexes were lower on Monday, with investors giving back a small percentage of last week’s gains. The S&P 500, Nasdaq, and the DOW each closed lower by small percentages and retreated from the previous week’s record highs. Still, the indexes finished off November with significant monthly gains. At the close, the Dow posted a monthly gain of more than 11.9% for its best month since early 1987. The S&P 500 added roughly 10.7%, and the Nasdaq posted an 11.9% advance in November. Although those gains are substantial, investors did take some risk off the table.
At the close, the $DJI lost 0.91% to 29,638.64. The NASDAQ Composite closed lower to 12,198.74, down 0.06%. The S&P 500 lost 0.46% to 3621.63. The Russell 2000 was lower, closing down by 1.94% to 1819.15.
The InvestorsPrism family of indexes closed higher. The PRISM Emerging Gene Therapy index closed higher by 1.3%. The PRISM Emerging MedCannabis index is higher by 9.2% on the day. The PRISM Emerging MedDevices index increased by 1.1%.
Other PRISM indexes closed higher. The PRISM Emerging MedDiagnostics index gained 1.5%. The PRISM Emerging New Economy index closed higher by 0.3%, and the PRISM Emerging Pet Care & AgriBiz index closed higher by 4.9%. The biotech heavy PRISM Emerging Vaccines & Cell Therapy index closed higher by 4.6%.
The top commodities are mostly lower at the 4:00pm ET mark. Crude Oil is trading lower to $45.13, down 0.88%. Gold is lower by 0.47% to $1779.70 per oz., and Silver is higher by 0.25% to $22.69 oz. Bitcoin ($BTC) is working its way through the $19,000 level, now trading to $19,393.20 as of 4pm est.
